A contemporary extension to a traditional vicarage | Hope Valley, Derbyshire
We were delighted to work with Peak Architects on this fantastic project adding a contemporary and striking extension to a traditional Vicarage. Their client was looking for a contemporary garden room extension to replace a poor quality 1980’s conservatory. The brief was to create a comfortable, contemporary living space which connects to the east terrace and the gardens. A thermal upgrade to the existing cellar of the main house was also included in the project scope.
The approach was to create a simple room providing a flexible relaxed living space to be used at any time of day. The new garden room has only one façade and is formed mostly of a minimal glazing system, however great care and attention is paid to the new stone cladding and surrounding stonework of both the existing house and cemetery walls. The new room identifies itself through this façade as a modern space and contemporary addition.
